UZI was formed in The Windy City during late 1986 by childhood friends and co-founders, singer, songwriter, bassist Nicholas Flynt and guitarist Keith Johnson. After their show debut in 1987, UZI's popularity began to skyrocket as they displayed a unique diversity between electric/acoustic performances and legendary shows at The Avalon, The Thirsty Whale, The Vic Theatre, trips out West to The City Of Angels to perform at Concrete Management's well known "Foundations Forum," as well as legendary Sunset Strip Club's Gazzarri's, The Whiskey, The Roxy, and The Coconut Teaszer.
UZI was influenced by the metal rock wave ridden by bands like AC/DC and Motley Crue. Their debut, a collection full of razor guitars, piston-powered drums, and sleazy-pop hooks, displays ten extraordinary songs unleashing a barrage of swagger. "American Dream" and "Rocker" are soon to be classic metal anthems. Title track "Madhouse," arguably the album's best song, will raise blood pressure after just one listen. "Away From My Heart," one the band's strongest songs, undoubtedly rivals any rocker ballad by GNR, Motley Crue, or Skid Row. |
