Tony started his career as the songwriter and lead guitarist for the late 80's band, Apocrypha. By the looks of the information available the band only lasted 4 years but produced 3 albums (The Forgotten Scroll (1987), The Eyes of Time (1988) and Area 54 (1990)) which earned them critical praise within the metal industry.
During the period of these 3 albums Tony became widely recognised as one of the more influential speed metal guitarists. Tony earned the accolade of "One of the most innovative speed metal guitarists of all time" from Guitar 9 Records and this thought was echoed with praise for his extremely technical style to go with the unpredictability and sheer ferociousness of his playing. As of now no further information is available about Apocrypha so it is presumed the members split up and each went their own way.
This would explain Tony's next venture, a 1993 solo debut called "Breakneck Speed." The album was instrumental but, according to reviews, showed Tony's versatility by his ability to fuse elements of grunge, speed and thrash. |
