The second release from Terry Bozzio, Tony Hymas, Tony Coe and Hugh Burns.
The Lonely Bears are Terry Bozzio, Hugh Burns, Tony Coe and Tony Hymas. I must say this is quite a gathering of well-known musicians. At this point I am asking myself - "Who is a better drummer than Terry Bozzio?" As a matter of fact, whom hasn't Bozzio played with at this point in his career? The man is a wonder. Bozzio's role comes as no revelation to me, as I have found that any project he is involved with, he quickly becomes the main focus. In fact, every instrument naturally creates it's own path to an astounding musical universe just awaiting your consumption.
The Lonely Bears are a salient amalgamation of jazz-rock-world music. While the fusion based beat created by the bass and drums leads the way on each track, there is an attention-grabbing saxophone blended into each song.
If you're in the mood for something dissimilar and appreciate jazz-rock fusion with a twist you will find this to be an exceptional recording. Fair warning to those of you who are steadfast straightforward contemporary Jazz lovers...this is a wild ride. |
