No More Obscurity, a fourteen track shred and hard rock release, comes from the studio of a truly fine German guitarist, Rolf Munkes, and his partner in music, drummer Gerald Kloos. On his debut album, Munkes is accompanied by a few guests, such as Lance King (singer with Balance of Power), and Anders Johansson (drummer with Yngwie Malmsteen, Hammerfall, etc.). Featuring eight instrumentals and six vocal numbers, No More Obscurity is an introduction to Munkes' playing style, which is characterized by clean, fast legato lines, quality phrasing and accuracy. In addition to Munkes' own creative compositions, there is a great cover of the Police classic "Message In A Bottle", which features a dynamite vocal interpretation by King and a shred solo. |
