A precursor to BON JOVI, MESSAGE was an early meeting point for guitarist RICHIE SAMBORA and bassist Alec John Such before the pair wound up teamed in BON JOVI in 1983.
As original copies of the MESSAGE mini album began to fetch three figure sums, vocalist Dean Fasano (who had recorded with PROPHET since, appearing on the band's debut album) was given Sambora's blessing in allowing German label Long Island Records to re-issue the album with bonus tracks. However, the previously unreleased material did not feature Sambora or Such and the original cover artwork was not used.
Fasano was reported to be working on a brand new MESSAGE album for release during 1998 through Escape Music. And, lo and behold, 'Fine Line' duly appeared in July, an album produced by ALDO NOVA and POKERFACE's Kenny 'Kaos' Loney with mixing from LOVERBOY's Paul Dean.
Although essentially now a Fasano solo outing the album included guitarists Mike Walsh, Steve D'Acutis and Tom DeRossi, bassists Jeff Thopmsen and Dave Hopia with drummer Rob Kurzreiter. Keyboards came from John O' Connell and Charlie Calv. Russell Arcara features on backing vocals.
Familiar names among the songwriters included JON BON JOVI, FOREIGNER and SPYS man Al Greenwood and ex-RAINBOW and BOSTON keyboard player David Rosentahl. |
