Loudness was formed by Akira Takasaki and Munetaka Higuchi after their previous band (Lazy) was being encouraged to become too pop-oriented. (several of the early Lazy albums have been re-released on CD, and are reportedly quite good.) The band followed in the footsteps of Bow Wow (the first Japanese metal band ever?) and proceeded to have a profound influence on practically every Japanese metal band of the 80's. The first three albums showed a more distinctive style than the Atlantic releases of the mid-80's where the band went for a more traditional American metal sound (and this was before American singer Mike Vescera joined). |
