HELLOISE was put together by former HIGHWAY CHILE veterans Ben Blaauw and Ernst Van Der Ee in April 1984. Stan Verbraak was recruited from Arnhem based act ZEBRA whilst Boogerds and Reemeeus were erstwhile members of LEMMING. The band entered a national best new band contest which brought them to the attention of WEA resulting in their debut album 'Cosmogeny' produced by John Sonneveld. The album received rave reviews across Europe, prompting second effort 'Polarity' in 1987.
Disappointing reaction to the second album provokes WEA to drop HELLOISE and disillusioned Van Ee quit, leaving the band to persevere recording demos with a drum machine. Blaauw set to work on a solo project with ex-HORIZON and VANDENBERG singer Peter Strujk which eventually lead to his exit from HELLOISE. Both albums were re-released in the 90's with extra tracks and a new album 'A Time And A Place For Everything' duly followed. |
