Back in 1986, renowned keyboard wizard Geoff Downes formed The New Dance Orchestra in order to perform an alternative form of music in an attempt to bring tone and colour to the stereo sound spectrum, but at the same time keeping its musical foundations.
Keyboardist Geoff Downes was one half of the popular if short-lived Buggles, whose Video Killed The Radio Star was a minor new wave hit. Downes and fellow Buggle Trevor Horn then took a surprising detour by joining the progressive rock band Yes. When that band disbanded after one album (Drama), Downes and Yes guitarist Steve Howe formed a new supergroup, Asia, with prog rock veterans John Wetton and Carl Palmer. The bands debut was a huge success, their second and third albums less so, and Asia too soon disbanded. |
