Daniel O'Brien brings the world a fresh helping of thought provoking Pop-Alternative music/poetry. His words and music take a look at a broad range of life experiences, through dark, mysterious glasses, provoking intense thought and emotion, mixed with catchy memorable melodies.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Daniel started his career in music early on in the fourth grade, studying drums and saxophone. He then went on to play both in Elementary and Junior High school stage bands. During the course of his Junior High school years, Daniel also took an interest in singing and writing his own material and began collecting basic recording gear for the production of his works. By the time Daniel was 17 years of age, he had released three singles, two for his own band, and one for an advertising campaign.
In 1989 Daniel landed his first music publishing contract with an English company called "E.G. Music," where he began writing and producing songs for such artists as Terri Nunn (formerly of the band 'Berlin'), Daryl Braithwaite, and Heart. Daniel also composed and performed the song "89 Lines" for the 1993 movie 'Kalifornia". 1995 projects include all original music and songs for a Family Channel children's video series entitled "Hobart and Cosmo", as well as songs for the films "Bed Of Roses" and "God, Sex, and Apple Pie".
In 1991 Daniel began writing songs for BMG Music Publishing, a deal that would last until 1994. Daniel has worked alongside such artists as "Don Henley," "John Waite," (formerly of the band "The Babies"), and "Susanna Hoffs" (of the "Bangles"). In 1992 Daniel embarked on an 8 month US and Canadian music tour, opening up for Susanna Hoffs and Don Henley. Daniel has also been the vocalist on over 14 episodes of the television series "Highlander", from 1995 through 1998.
Currently, Daniel has just finished releasing an album of his original songs entitled "Brilliant New Disaster", throughout Germany and Scandanavia, and continues to write and produce new songs for an upcoming US album release.
