Billy Sprague is a songwriter, singer, musician, speaker and author. After graduating from Texas Christian University with degrees in English and Bible, Sprague moved to Nashville to write and perform music in 1981. Billy recorded several solo projects in the early-80's for Reunion Records including WHAT A WAY TO GO, SERIOUS FUN, LA VIE, and I WISH. He was also the opening act on Michael W. Smith's "Big Picture Tour" in 1987. In addition to his own popular songs as a solo artist (including the #1 hits "Oh Heavenly Father", "Heaven is a Long Hello" and "I Wish"), Billy has written many classic songs for other established artists. These songs include, "Can You Reach My Friend" (Debbie Boone), "IOU Me" (BeBe And CeCe Winans), and the 1996 Dove Award-winning Inspirational Song of the Year "Man After Your Own Heart" (Gary Chapman from MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST). Billy also penned the modern classic and Dove Award-winning 1986 SONG OF THE YEAR "Via Dolorosa" (Sandi Patti). In addition to his songwriting, Billy is also an accomplished author. He has written several books including the four-series "A Friend Should Be. . . " books published by Broadman-Holman Publishing and his newest book - "Ice Cream as a Clue to the Meaning of the Universe" published by Harvest House Publishing. |
